Fees And Billing
It is the policy of our office to discuss our fees with the client at the outset of the attorney-client relationship and to confirm these fee discussions in writing. While it is not always possible to predict the precise cost of handling a matter, we advise our clients of the type of work involved, the possible complications and which of our staff members will participate in the case.
Our fees are usually based upon hourly charges at rates which vary depending upon which staff members are involved in handling the matter. Clients are normally billed on a monthly basis and payment is expected within ten days unless special arrangements are made. In all cases, our clients are provided with a detailed and itemized statement. All time expended on a client’s case is recorded, including conferences, correspondence and telephone calls.
In appropriate cases, such as automobile accidents and medical malpractice claims, we work on a contingent fee basis, in which our fee is determined by a percentage of the amount recovered. In these cases, as in all other cases, out-of-pocket expenses are the obligation of the client.
If at any time a client has a question about a bill or fees charged, we welcome the opportunity to discuss any matter of concern.
